Yeongdeok Wolwolicheongcheong Preservation Society Receives 'Gyeongbuk Province Cultural Heritage' Group Commendation
Yeongdeok Wolwolicheongcheong Preservation Society received a commendation in the cultural heritage preservation management (private organization) category at the ‘2023 Excellent Cities and Counties and Meritorious Persons Awards Ceremony in the Cultural Heritage Field’ hosted by Gyeongbuk Province on the 21st.
At the 2023 Gyeongbuk Province Cultural Heritage Excellence Awards Ceremony for Cities, Counties, and Meritorious Individuals, the Yeongdeok Wolwolicheongcheong Preservation Society received a group commendation.
View original imageSince its establishment in 2000, the Preservation Society has been actively engaged in transmission and preservation activities, playing a key role in having ‘Yeongdeok Wolwolicheongcheong’ designated as Gyeongbuk Province Intangible Cultural Property No. 36 in 2009, and has continued steady efforts to pass down and preserve local traditional culture.
In particular, this year, the society was recognized for its contributions by going beyond simple transmission and preservation activities through performances invited by the National Folk Museum, exchange performances with intangible cultural properties from other regions, and creative theatrical performances.

Jang Deok-sik, head of the Culture and Tourism Division of Yeongdeok County, stated, “This award is a recognition of the Preservation Society’s exemplary intangible cultural heritage transmission and preservation activities representing Gyeongbuk Province,” and added, “We will do our best to establish a foundation and support policies so that the region’s traditional culture and history become a source of vitality for residents and are well preserved and expanded as the identity of future generations.”
