Yeosu Coast Guard Finds Missing Captain in His 60s Dead
Found Dead After Falling into the Sea off Dolsan on the Night of the 20th
The Yeosu Maritime Police Station in Jeollanam-do (Chief Officer Go Min-gwan) announced, "On the night of the 20th, Captain B (62), who fell into the sea about 370 meters off Seobang, Dolsan, Yeosu City, was found dead."
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, during the investigation of the drifting vessel A (1.43 tons, 1 crew member) on the 21st, it was confirmed through nearby CCTV that Captain B of vessel A slipped and fell into the sea at around 8:05 PM on the 20th while mooring the ship.
Yeosu Maritime Police mobilized patrol boats, rescue teams, related agencies, and private rescue vessels for a joint intensive search to find Captain B. At 10:03 AM on the 22nd, the Korea Maritime Rescue Association, which was searching the coastal area at the request of Yeosu Maritime Police, discovered Captain B.
Captain B was found dead on the shore about 550 meters from the accident site, a little over a day after falling into the sea.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, "We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident through analysis of the accident site and CCTV."
