McDonald's Unveils Two Limited Edition 'Lucky Burgers' for Year-End and New Year Season
McDonald's announced on the 22nd that it will launch two special year-end and New Year menu items called ‘Haengun Burger’ to wish for good luck in the new year and to participate in a warm donation campaign.
The Haengun Burger, first introduced in 2013, is McDonald's representative popular limited-time menu released every year at the end of the year, carrying the meaning of delivering hope and luck for the new year. In addition, since 2019, McDonald's has been running a customer participation donation campaign by donating a portion of the sales proceeds from the Haengun Burger to Korea RMHC every year. When purchasing a Haengun Burger as a single item or set, 100 KRW is donated, and the accumulated donations are given to Korea RMHC to be used for the operation and construction of ‘RMHC House (Ronald McDonald House),’ a nearby hospital shelter for sick children and their families.
In fact, the Haengun Burger surpassed 1.7 million units sold in January this year, achieving a cumulative donation amount of 240 million KRW, the largest ever.
The Haengun Burger consists of two types: ‘Haengun Burger Gold’ and ‘Haengun Burger Gold Special.’ The Haengun Burger Gold features a distinctive long bun and a chewy patty finished with savory seasoning, combined with garlic sauce and aioli sauce made from garlic and olive oil, offering a sweet yet rich garlic flavor. The Haengun Burger Gold Special adds a hash brown to this, providing a crispy texture and savory taste, as well as a satisfying fullness.
Additionally, the limited side menu ‘Curly Fries,’ known for its addictive seasoning and unique rolled shape, and the ‘Gold McFizz,’ which offers a golden color and refreshing taste from a combination of orange syrup and Sprite, are also returning for the year-end and New Year season. This year, 100 KRW from each Gold McFizz purchase will be donated through Coca-Cola to Korea RMHC.
