The Singal Intercity Bus Stop is a stop for 21 intercity and express bus routes, as well as airport buses, departing from Yongin Bus Terminal and heading to various parts of the country, before entering Suwon Singal IC.
Since its operation began in 2011, this bus stop has been a temporary facility, causing inconvenience to users as there was no shelter from heatwaves, cold waves, or rain.
After Mayor Lee Sang-il took office in the 8th term of the local government, the city sought solutions and was selected in July as a target site for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's "2023 Local Government Innovation Performance Expansion Support Project." The city invested a total of 80 million KRW, including 40 million KRW in national funds and 40 million KRW in city funds, to establish this smart bus stop.
This 6-meter-wide enclosed rest area is equipped with heating and cooling facilities, heated seats, ultraviolet (UV) air sterilizers, wireless phone chargers, and Wi-Fi. The city especially integrated advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to control internal heating, cooling, and ventilation.
