Gwangju Police Agency Holds Meeting with Autonomous Crime Prevention Association... Discussing Activation of Crime Prevention Teams
On the 20th, the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency held a communication meeting to discuss measures to revitalize the Autonomous Crime Prevention Association, with 20 executives including members of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Association attending at the Gwangju Police Agency in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
Since the enforcement of the Act on the Establishment and Operation of Autonomous Crime Prevention Associations in April, after reporting the organization and verifying disqualifications, Gwangju Metropolitan City officially launched 86 Autonomous Crime Prevention Associations, and 1,722 members were appointed and began their activities.
At the meeting, appreciation was expressed for the intensive patrol activities during the recent special security period, and certificates of appreciation were awarded to five individuals including Cha Bong-dan, the head of the Advanced Autonomous Crime Prevention Association. Discussions were also held on measures for revitalization and development of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Association.
Han Chang-hoon, Chief of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, said, "As members appointed under the law recognizing the association as a legal entity, I ask you to take pride and responsibility and make efforts for local security. The Gwangju police will also actively support the stable operation of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Association."

He also urged the association to focus their capabilities on crime prevention activities, especially as security demands increase toward the end of the year and New Year holidays.
