The "Yeongsan River Cooperation Strategy Workshop" has established itself as a joint academic-government workshop discussing various topics such as archaeology, history, tourism, contents, and scenic spots since April 29 last year, when the Honam Culture Contents Research Institute at National Mokpo University, Naju City, and Muan County first comprehensively discussed the direction of cooperation for the Yeongsan River.
At this fifth workshop, not only officials from Naju City and Muan County but also those from Hampyeong County and Yeongam County will participate in the discussion to concretely deliberate effective strategies for promoting attractions in the middle and lower Yeongsan River area.
Kang Bong-ryong, Director of the Honam Culture Contents Research Institute at National Mokpo University, stated, "The Yeongsan River was the driving force behind the birth and development of civilization in the Southwest region," and added, "The four local governments, interlocked like gears because of the Yeongsan River, aim to devise a 'big picture' and develop this into a model government-academic workshop that creates an opportunity for the revival of global Southwest civilization in the 21st century."
