Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) held the '2023 Lifelong Learning School Graduation Ceremony' on the 13th at the county's Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, with about 100 attendees.
According to the county on the 14th, 118 elderly participants from 6 towns and townships and 8 classrooms, who applied through the recruitment announcement in February, underwent a one-year educational course where instructors visited village halls three times a week for two hours each session, starting with an entrance ceremony.

Ultimately, 77 elderly participants graduated from the Lifelong Learning School, with an average learner age of 80 and the oldest being 94 years old.
In particular, the video from the Singi classroom in Miam-myeon attracted attention as learners drew pictures of the traditional folktale 'Heungbu and Nolbu,' filmed them, and added voiceovers to complete the project.
An elderly participant in their 80s expressed the joy of learning to read and write at the Yeongam-gun Lifelong Learning School graduation ceremony, saying, "You have to know letters to find 'Cheondang' by looking at the sign."
Other elderly participants who received literacy education and won awards at the writing contest during the graduation ceremony also expressed their gratitude in unison, saying, "Thank you for allowing us to study letters even at the age of 80."
