G-Dragon to Clear Drug Allegations... 'No Charges' Expected Next Week
The police investigating the drug use allegations involving celebrities are expected to close the case against singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong) next week with no charges.
On the 13th, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Kwon, who was investigated on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act, will be dismissed without indictment around next week with a 'no suspicion' determination.
The police recently questioned six individuals, including celebrities who visited entertainment establishments in Gangnam with Kwon and female employees of the establishments, as witnesses, but reportedly failed to secure statements proving the charges. The celebrity witnesses reportedly gave their statements via phone calls without appearing in person at the police station.
Earlier, based on the testimony of A (29, female), the manager of an entertainment establishment in Gangnam, Seoul, the police suspected that Kwon used drugs at the venue last December and launched an investigation. Subsequently, on the 25th of last month, Kwon was booked without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
However, Kwon tested negative for drugs in a preliminary reagent test and a detailed analysis by the National Forensic Service. It is also known that there is no additional circumstantial evidence. At a police appearance on the 6th of last month, he said, "I came today to prove that I am not involved in drug crimes." He also emphasized in a broadcast on the 13th of last month, "I have never used drugs nor exchanged them with anyone."
Meanwhile, the police are focusing on finding person B, who threatened actor Lee Sun-kyun (48) along with the entertainment establishment manager A, but his identity has not been revealed for nearly two months.
