Busan Gijang-gun Secures 2.4 Billion Won in Special Grants... Momentum for Current Projects
"Pursuing Current Issues and Disaster Safety Prevention Projects"
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) has secured 2.4 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, boosting efforts for current projects and disaster safety prevention initiatives.
Special grants are national funds provided to compensate for special financial needs, considering specific circumstances of local governments, changes in local fiscal conditions, disasters, and other unforeseen financial demands.
Despite the recent decline in local allocation tax and reduced tax revenue causing difficult financial conditions, Gijang-gun achieved success in securing special grants through active budget acquisition efforts.
This has provided momentum to continuously promote key current issues and disaster safety prevention projects. The special grants secured by Gijang-gun this time amount to 2 billion KRW for local current issues and 1.4 billion KRW for disaster safety, totaling 2.4 billion KRW.
For current issues, two projects were selected: ▲ Jangancheon deck maintenance project (800 million KRW) and ▲ Gilcheon Port dredging project (200 million KRW). The Jangancheon deck maintenance project involves refurbishing the Jangancheon promenade installed in 2006. The county plans to prevent safety accidents and resolve residents' inconveniences by repairing the aging deck and safety railings. Additionally, the Gilcheon Port dredging project aims to ensure fishing vessel safety and support smooth fishing activities.
In the disaster safety sector, four projects were selected: ▲ Jwagwangcheon dredging project (600 million KRW), ▲ Jangancheon bank maintenance project (500 million KRW), ▲ Chilam Port area T.T.P maintenance project (100 million KRW), and ▲ Daechung Elementary School area pedestrian environment improvement project (200 million KRW).
Through the Jwagwangcheon dredging project, the county will secure the river cross-section by dredging sediment deposits to prevent river flooding, and the Jangancheon bank maintenance project will repair embankments in eroded sections.
Also, the Chilam Port area T.T.P maintenance project will repair T.T.P structures that have subsided or been damaged due to typhoons, and the Daechung Elementary School area pedestrian environment improvement project will create a safe walking environment in the school vicinity where pedestrian traffic is heavy.
Gijang-gun is committed to thoroughly protecting residents' lives and property by promoting various projects to prevent safety accidents and prepare for natural disasters during the summer season.
