Police Lead Volunteer Efforts to Improve Housing Conditions for Families in Crisis
The village officer of the Hyeonggyeong Police Substation (Chief Jeong Okheon) under the Muan Police Station in Jeonnam discovered an elderly woman living alone, Ms. A (84, female), who was in a welfare blind spot, and promptly guided her to the welfare officer at the local township office to support her in receiving basic welfare benefits and housing environment improvement projects, earning great praise from local residents.
According to the Hyeonggyeong Police Substation on the 13th, the village officer recently found Ms. A living alone in a house where garbage had been left unattended during patrol. Recognizing her as a family in crisis who had not received basic welfare benefits, the officer accompanied Ms. A to the township office and proposed a housing environment improvement project to help her receive basic welfare benefits.
About 30 people including the Hyeongyeong-myeon Office, police, village residents, welfare task force, and the Community Security Council are participating in volunteer activities to improve living conditions by cleaning up trash and replacing wallpaper and flooring.

Meanwhile, upon hearing this news, Hong Euisik, the representative of the Hyeonggyeong Gas Station in the jurisdiction, decided to support heating oil so that the beneficiary could spend a warm winter. However, feeling sorry that the beneficiary had no heating facilities, he donated an electric mat, and donations to help the beneficiary have continued from various places, creating a heartwarming story in the local community at the end of the year.
