CJ Nanum Foundation Announces Recruitment for 'Kkumkium Scholarship' Participants... "Supporting Talented Youth from Vulnerable Groups"
Selection of Outstanding Talents from Local Children's Centers for Grades 9 to 12
Support Including Up to 17 Million KRW Scholarship Per Person and Expert Mentoring
CJ Nanum Foundation announced on the 11th that it is recruiting participants for the ‘Kkumkium Scholarship,’ which supports talented youth from underprivileged backgrounds in academics and arts, physical education, and technical fields (special skills) until January 26 next year.
Based on the social contribution philosophy of Chairman Lee Jae-hyun, CJ Nanum Foundation carries out various cultural and social contribution activities through the sharing platform CJ Donors Camp to ensure that all children and youth can grow up healthily without being marginalized and with equal opportunities. Since 2018, it has supported a total of 184 youths, among whom 48 scholarship recipients continue to act as mentors for junior scholars after graduation, leading a ‘virtuous cycle of sharing.’
The Kkumkium Scholarship is a program that provides scholarships and professional education to outstanding talents who show abilities in ‘special skills’ such as arts, physical education, and technical fields, as well as ‘academics’ within local children’s centers, so they do not give up on their dreams due to environmental constraints. About 30 youths from 3rd grade middle school to 3rd grade high school with clear career plans and remarkable growth potential will be finally selected.
Especially this year, under the theme of ‘cultivating cultural talents,’ the foundation plans to focus on discovering scholarship recipients in various special skill fields. Since 2018, scholarship recipients who have benefited from the Kkumkium Scholarship have recorded over 270 awards in domestic competitions at the metropolitan city and provincial levels as well as international competitions, raising expectations for this year’s scholars’ achievements.
Selected scholars will receive scholarships of up to 17 million KRW per person, including tuition and educational support fees, and expenses for purchasing supplies, along with multifaceted support such as career and college entrance education and psychological counseling. For scholars in special skill fields, continuous close support will be provided, including one-on-one customized mentoring and systematic counseling by experts in each field to assist with career planning. Additionally, opportunities for overseas experience and cultural exchange with local youths will be offered through overseas cultural camps.
