Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) will open the 'Seongdong-gu Smart Library' inside Majang Station on Subway Line 5 on the 12th.
The Smart Library is an unmanned mini library where anyone with a Seongdong-gu library membership card can search for and easily borrow desired books on the spot. It stocks mainly new releases and bestsellers that can be conveniently read during commutes.
The Smart Library installed at Majang Station holds about 500 diverse books, and each person can borrow up to two books for a maximum of 14 days. The operating hours align with the subway service hours, making it available 365 days a year without breaks.
Currently, Smart Libraries are installed at Sangwangsimni Station and Seongsu Station on Line 2, and at Oksu Station and Geumho Station on Line 3 in Seongdong-gu, receiving positive responses from residents for easy book borrowing and returning throughout the year.
