"Nuclear Energy Level"... Taylor Swift Achieves 1 Trillion Won in Sales After 60 Performances of 'Historic First' Concert
‘The Eras Tour’ Achieves $1 Billion in Revenue
Also Selected as Time's 'Person of the Year'
American global pop star Taylor Swift's world tour, 'The Eras Tour,' has achieved $1 billion in revenue for the first time in history. This surpasses the previous highest-grossing pop star tour held by Elton John.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 8th (local time), citing concert industry publication Pollstar, that "Swift's Eras Tour revenue reached $1.04 billion (approximately 1.37 trillion KRW)."
The previous highest-grossing pop star tour was Elton John's farewell tour, 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour,' which earned $939 million (approximately 1.23 trillion KRW). However, that tour started in 2018 and continued for a long period until this year, excluding the COVID-19 pandemic period.

In contrast, Swift's tour broke the all-time revenue record after only 60 shows over 8 months. The music industry had already predicted earlier this year that Swift would surpass $1 billion in tour revenue this year alone.
Debuting in 2006, Swift has been recognized as one of the most successful female musicians since the 2010s by capturing both musicality and commercial success with her outstanding songwriting skills. Her popularity in her home country, the United States, is especially absolute.
Swift holds the record for the most Billboard HOT 200 No. 1 albums among female artists with nine studio albums, and has sold over 60 million albums worldwide. At the Grammy Awards, she became the first female singer to win the Album of the Year award three times.
Notably, Swift's concerts have such an economic impact that prices soar in every city she visits, coining the term 'Swiftonomics'?a blend of economics and Swift?reflecting her influence on the global economy.

According to Bloomberg, the average ticket price for Swift's 'The Eras Tour,' which began in March this year, is $238.95 (approximately 314,000 KRW), and the revenue per show reaches $11 to $12 million.
The New York Times (NYT) reported in July that "when Swift performed live in Seattle last week, the vibrations caused by 70,000 attendees and the music were tremendous," noting that the so-called 'Swift vibration' increased the maximum ground acceleration by an average of about 11 cm per second squared.

Meanwhile, Swift was recently named Time magazine's 2023 'Person of the Year.' Time explained the selection by stating, "Swift's popularity has been rising for over a decade, but this year she emitted energy like nuclear fusion in both artistic and commercial aspects," adding, "There is no one on Earth today who has moved so many people."
