‘Docent Robot’ Appears at Seodaemun Natural History Museum

View original imageSeodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 8th that it has recently introduced and is operating the docent (exhibition guide) robot ‘Broomi’ to enhance the convenience of visitors to the Seodaemun Natural History Museum. Based on autonomous driving technology, this robot moves directly to the exhibits and provides voice explanations about them.
Broomi performs various roles such as guiding visitors to major facilities and exhibits, introducing past special and planned exhibitions, and taking photos with visitors who wish to do so, then sending the photos via email. In particular, the robot offers exhibition explanations in multiple languages (English, Chinese, Japanese), making it useful for foreign visitors as well.
In addition, the guide robot ‘Seobot’ provides services such as directions, civil complaint guidance, introduction to major tourist attractions in the district, and promotional video broadcasting in the lobby on the first floor of the Seodaemun-gu Office.
