Promotional Video Featuring Gurye Residents Gains Attention
Supportive Comments Continue, Receiving Great Response
As the new pumped-storage power plant site under the government's 10th Basic Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand is expected to be announced in December, a promotional video featuring residents of Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, has received great response.
The YouTube video released last November has surpassed 4,000 views and currently has over 360 supportive comments. Including the views of the Reels video posted on Instagram, the total exceeds 10,000 views.

Netizens responded with comments such as "I didn't know about pumped-storage power plants, but it was very easy to understand," "I hope the pumped-storage power plant is successfully hosted as the elders of Muncheok-myeon wish," "A warm video that reminds me of my parents in my hometown," and "Pumped-storage is Gurye, fighting," expressing their support for the Gurye pumped-storage power plant and wishing for the health and happiness of the elders.
The enthusiasm of Gurye residents for hosting the plant is so strong that a promotional video featuring residents was produced. 93.4% of the residents of Muncheok-myeon, the candidate site for the pumped-storage power plant, expressed their consent to hosting the plant, and all ten households in the submerged area also submitted consent forms.
About 100 members of the "Muncheok-myeon Pumped-storage Power Plant Hosting Committee," composed of Muncheok-myeon residents, and approximately 3,000 "Gurye Pumped-storage Power Plant Hosting Supporters," consisting of residents and hometown supporters, are also active.
A county official said, "As a result of holding 24 briefings and site visits to enhance residents' understanding of the pumped-storage power plant, many residents are hoping for and supporting the hosting of the plant," adding, "Considering site conditions and resident acceptance, we judge Gurye to be the optimal location."
