"Let's Build Ulsan Education Together" ... Student Participation Committee Policy Proposal Meeting Held
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education provides students with opportunities to actively participate in educational policy as key stakeholders.
On the 2nd, the Ulsan Office of Education will hold the ‘Student Participation Committee Policy Proposal Meeting’ at the city education office auditorium, with about 200 student participation committee members attending.
The Student Participation Committee is a youth autonomous organization of the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, composed of one representative from each school.
Since March, the committee has conducted policy understanding classes explaining the student participatory budgeting system and educational policies, held regular regional meetings in June and October, and will conclude its activities with this policy proposal meeting.
In the first part of the event, announcer Kim Soo-min will give a special lecture on the theme ‘Speaking in the Language of Leaders.’ In the second part, achievements of student autonomous activities will be shared and policy proposal activities will take place.
First, as excellent cases of student autonomous activities, Kim Chae-hyun from Namoe Middle School and Lee Myung-ok, a teacher from Myeongjeong Elementary School, will present. Namoe Middle School will introduce cases such as student store activities and board game competitions led by the student council, while Myeongjeong Elementary School will present cases of autonomous activities involving both staff and students.
In the policy proposal activities, elementary school student representatives from Ulju-gun, Park So-yoon of Mugeo Elementary School and Jo Ha-eun of Beomseo Elementary School, will propose policies they consider necessary from the perspective of elementary students under the theme ‘School Trips and Experiential Activities We Wish For.’
Kim Do-hee from Hyundai Cheongun Middle School will represent middle school students from Dong-gu and propose a policy on ‘Practical Career Education for the Future,’ while Lee Eun-woo from Ulsan Gangnam High School will represent high school students from Nam-gu and propose ‘Prevention of Short-form Video Addiction.’
Superintendent Cheon Chang-soo said, “Activities where students deeply consider the problems they face and directly participate to propose opinions are essential for our society and a true way to cultivate self-directed citizenship. We will continue to support our students so that they can grow into healthy democratic citizens.”

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to deliver the policy proposals suggested by students to the relevant departments and strive to reflect them in next year’s policies. An activity evaluation meeting will also be held to actively incorporate diverse opinions from students and teachers into next year’s projects.
