President Yoon Seok-yeol Approves Nomination of Lee Jong-seok as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court
The Blue House announced on the 30th that President Yoon Suk-yeol has approved the appointment of Lee Jong-seok as the nominee for Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
The vacancy for the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court was resolved 21 days after former Chief Justice Yoo Nam-seok retired on the 10th. Previously, the National Assembly's Special Committee on Personnel Hearings adopted a report on the 28th that included both favorable and unfavorable opinions regarding nominee Lee, and the National Assembly held a plenary session on the same day to approve the appointment consent for Lee as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

Chief Justice Lee was a classmate of President Yoon at Seoul National University College of Law, class of 1979. After passing the 1983 judicial examination, he began his career as a judge at the Incheon District Court and served in various positions including Judicial Policy Officer at the Court Administration Office, Chief of the Warrant Division, Chief of the Criminal Division, and Senior Chief of the Bankruptcy Division at the Seoul Central District Court, Senior Chief Judge at the Seoul High Court, and Chief Judge of the Suwon District Court.
