Omiseop, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Enacts 'Reusable Container Promotion Ordinance'
Oh Miseop, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced on the 30th that the 'Ordinance to Support the Activation of Reusable Container Use' was passed at the 317th 2nd Regular Session Standing Committee.
The ordinance aims to activate the use of reusable containers to reduce the use and provision of disposable products, prevent resource waste, and practice carbon neutrality.
The main contents include ▲ The administrative and financial responsibilities of the district mayor to allow reusable containers to be used at events and festivals ▲ Efforts by participating companies, public institutions, and residents to use reusable containers ▲ Regulations on the scope of budget support to activate the use of reusable containers.
Councilor Oh said, "I hope that the use of reusable containers will be activated at events and festivals, reducing disposable waste," and "We will seek various policy alternatives together to reduce citizens' inconvenience regarding the use of reusable containers and establish it as an environmentally friendly culture."
Councilor Oh is also paying attention to environmental policies, including being the chief proposer of the 'Resolution Urging the Ministry of Environment to Withdraw the Disposable Product Management Plan,' and is currently serving as a member of the Council's Special Committee on Climate Crisis Response.
