Gwangju Dong-gu Launches Full-Scale Efforts to Create a Disability-Friendly City
Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is taking steps to create a disabled-friendly city.
The district announced on the 29th that it held the Disabled Welfare Committee to actively promote the project of creating a "Disabled-Friendly City with Empathy, Not Difference."
The committee reviewed and supplemented the "1st Dong-gu Comprehensive Plan for Disabled Policies," examined areas requiring new policy development, and finalized the direction for promoting the creation of a "Disabled-Friendly City."

The "1st Dong-gu Comprehensive Plan for Disabled Policies," to be implemented from next year through 2027, includes 56 detailed projects under four major strategies: ▲creating a living environment favorable for disabled people ▲strengthening income security systems and supporting independent living for disabled people ▲activating customized education and leisure activities considering the characteristics of disabled people ▲enhancing social participation and rights protection for disabled people.
