GS Group has carried out its regular executive appointments by newly appointing four subsidiary CEOs and deploying a large number of field-oriented future business personnel.
On the 29th, GS Group announced, "We have nominated 50 executives, including four newly appointed CEOs, one promotion to president, and two promotions to vice president," adding, "These appointments will be finalized after going through the boards of directors of each subsidiary." This is the largest scale since the founding of GS. Among the newly appointed executives, 31 are first-time managing directors. The annual scale of executive appointments had previously been around 30 to 40 people.
GS Group appointed prospective managers who have held key positions as new CEOs and senior executives, and selected practical talents who have developed expertise in the field as new executives. GS Group explained that this reflects Chairman Huh Tae-soo's intention to create a field-centered, execution-focused organizational culture. Prior to this appointment, Chairman Huh emphasized, "As business environment uncertainties increase, it is a time when greater focus on customers is needed," and added, "We must prioritize customers' expectations of GS as the highest value and strengthen all businesses based on expertise and fundamentals with a customer-centric approach. Let us change faster with a customer-centered, field-centered, and future-oriented mindset."
The list of appointees includes five members of the fourth generation of the GS Group owner family. Huh Cheol-hong, CEO of GS M-Biz (Managing Director), was promoted to vice president, while Huh Ju-hong, head of the Basic Chemical Division at GS Caltex (Managing Director), and Huh Chi-hong, head of the MD Division at GS Retail (Managing Director), were promoted to managing director. Huh Yoon-hong, president of GS Construction and Chief Innovation Officer (CInO), has been appointed as a new CEO. It is expected that he will overcome the current crisis and prepare for a new leap forward.
Huh Seo-hong, vice president and head of the Future Business Team at GS Corporation, who has been leading the discovery of new growth engines and investment strategies for GS Group, has been abruptly transferred to GS Retail as head of the Management Strategy Service Unit (SU), overseeing the Management Support Headquarters, Strategy Division, and New Business Division. GS Group stated, "Vice President Huh has accumulated execution capabilities for new business linkage and commercialization at the GS Group level while serving as head of the Future Business Team at GS Corporation," and added, "This move follows Chairman Huh's special order to enable GS Retail, which is fiercely competing for survival with large online and offline commerce companies, to quickly secure business competitiveness and accelerate new business initiatives."

Yoo Jae-young, vice president and head of the Finance Office at GS Caltex, will move to GS Power to serve as CEO. Born in 1967, Yoo graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration and joined LG Electronics before assisting with the early establishment of GS Group in the Business Support Team at GS Corporation. Over the past decade, he has held positions such as head of Management Support and Finance Office at GS EPS and GS Caltex, earning recognition for stable change management in the energy business amid rapidly changing business environments. He has been entrusted with leading key projects such as the modernization of the Bucheon combined heat and power plant at GS Power.
GS Entec promoted Managing Director Jeong Yong-han, head of the Production Headquarters, to managing director and appointed him as CEO. Kim Tae-jin, vice president and head of the Management Support Headquarters at GS Construction, was promoted to president. Kim Sung-min, vice president at GS Caltex, was promoted from managing director of the Performance Improvement Program (PIP) to vice president and moved to Chief Safety Executive Officer (CSEO), co-CEO, and head of the Production Headquarters. Kwon Young-woon, managing director and head of the GS Caltex Technology Research Institute, was also promoted to vice president.
This appointment saw a generational shift among many of the representative leaders who contributed to GS's early growth, providing opportunities for successors and revitalizing the overall organization. Among those who retired were Lee Doo-hee, president of GS Caltex (Chief Safety Executive Officer, co-CEO, and head of Production Headquarters); Kim Hyung-guk, president of the Chemical & Lube Division; Jo Hyo-je, president and CEO of GS Power; Kim Ho-sung, president of GS Retail (head of Home Shopping BU and co-CEO); and Im Byung-yong, vice chairman and CEO of GS Construction, along with Woo Moo-hyun, president and Chief Safety Executive Officer.
