'From Halla to Baekdu'... Dongmyeong University Military Science Department Cadet Officers Establish National Identity
The Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University had a meaningful time of unity and harmony through the ‘From Halla to Baekdu’ program.
Twenty-two first-year students from the Department of Military Science established a sense of national duty during a 3-day, 2-night trip to Jeju Island from the 14th to the 16th, which included ▲visiting a naval base ▲off-road bike experience ▲clay shooting ▲climbing Hallasan Mountain.
To cultivate Do-ing talents (Challenge, Experience, Practice), the Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University annually conducts the ‘From Halla to Baekdu’ program to foster unity, cultivate a broad-minded spirit, and reaffirm the will to protect the nation.
First-year participants climb Hallasan, second-year students climb Jirisan, third-year students climb Dokdo, and fourth-year students climb Baekdusan.

View original imageStudent Eunseo Lee said, “The snow-covered Hallasan traverse was really tough, but with the encouragement of my peers and the support of the professors, I was able to overcome my limits,” adding, “I gained the confidence to overcome any obstacle.”
Discipline advisor Professor Taeyoung Jung said, “I felt proud and experienced the spirit of challenge when all the freshmen reached the summit without a single dropout.”
Department head Seunghak Na emphasized, “Through the ‘From Halla to Baekdu’ program, our students are establishing a strong sense of national duty and developing sufficient qualities as officers.”
The Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University plans to support all admitted and enrolled students with a special scholarship of 1 million KRW per person and conduct domestic programs (Finding TU Families) and overseas programs (Glocal TU) using the ‘University Innovation Support Project’ funds to attract outstanding freshmen for the 2024 academic year.

The department is the only military science department in the Busan, Ulsan, and Yangsan regions, and every year, all graduates are commissioned as officers in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
