Honam University Hosts 'Talent Development Conference in the Era of Generative AI'
Honam University held the 'Generative AI Era Talent Development Conference' on the 27th at the on-campus IT Square.
This conference was held to promote the K-MOOC (Korean Massive Open Online Course) lectures developed and operated by Honam University's Center for Teaching and Learning Development, and it was made more diverse through collaboration with the Korean Federation of Women Scientists and Engineers.
In addition to university faculty and staff, about 80 participants including professors from regional universities such as Chonnam National University, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Mokpo National Maritime University, and Nambu University attended the event, demonstrating their interest and passion for education, research, and industry in the era of generative artificial intelligence.
The event began with an opening address by Jeong Young-gi, Dean of Academic Affairs at Honam University. In the first session, Baek Ran, Dean of the AI Convergence College at Honam University, and Lim Ki-cheol, President of GIST, delivered keynote presentations on the theme "Discussing Innovation for Talent Development in the Generative AI Era."
In the second session, vivid field stories were shared by Moon Ae-ri, Chairperson of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Women in Science, and Professor Kim Joo-han of Seoul National University College of Medicine, under the theme "The Future of Science and Technology and the Startup Scene in the Digital Transformation Era."
Honam University, the only 'AI-specialized university' in Korea and a four-time consecutive winner of the National Service Award in the 'University-AI Specialization Division,' began developing AI-related courses for the Korean Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC) in 2020.

In 2022, it was selected to develop and operate a total of eight courses, including four bundled courses under 'Artificial Intelligence Convergence (AI+X),' and successfully held Seasons 1 and 2 of the 'K-MOOC Future Technology Conference with Experts' starting from 2022.
