"Jusapa Origin in Jongno?" Hong Joon-pyo Criticizes Kim Ki-hyun, Ha Tae-kyung, and In Yo-han
When Ha Tae-kyung, a People Power Party lawmaker who served three terms in Haeundae, Busan, announced his candidacy for Jongno, Seoul, Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, criticized him, saying, "This is not a place for someone with a Jusa-pa background."
On the 27th, Mayor Hong posted on his social media, "Jongno is still a symbolic place in the Republic of Korea, and it is not a place for someone with a Jusa-pa background," adding, "Candidacy is free, but the delusion goes too far."
Although Mayor Hong did not specify the target of his criticism, considering that Ha announced his candidacy for Jongno that morning, his remarks are interpreted as aimed at Ha. Ha stated, "Our party, the People Power Party, should not remain confined to support in Yeongnam but expand its base to the metropolitan area," and declared his candidacy for Jongno, saying, "The primary condition for winning the metropolitan area general election is to hold Jongno."
However, Mayor Hong believes it is inappropriate for Ha, who has a Jusa-pa background, to run in Jongno. Ha is considered a representative of the 'converted 486,' who turned from Jusa-pa to right-wing.
In June, Mayor Hong also targeted Ha on social media, saying, "Starting as Jusa-pa, he shifts like a chameleon according to the political trend, fluttering around in appointed or similar local positions," and on the 16th, while supporting the expulsion of former leader Lee Jun-seok, he said, "Take away those with a Jusa-pa background who do not match our party's identity," directly attacking Ha.
Kim Ki-hyun, the leader of the People Power Party, also criticized. In another 'post,' he said, "I became party leader by appealing to Yoon's support and still maintain the position by appealing to Yoon's support, but only I should do that; you guys shouldn't. Can a general election be held with such a party leader?" adding, "It’s getting worse."
Mayor Hong added a third post, saying, "Former leader Lee is not rude but audacious. It reminds me of former leader Yoo Jin-san, who disparaged the 'Two Kims' as immature."
