Samsung Electronics established a vice chairman-level Future Business Planning Group in this reshuffle and appointed Jeon Young-hyun, Chairman of the Board of Samsung SDI who led the memory semiconductor and electric vehicle battery cell businesses, as the head (vice chairman) of the group.
On the 27th, Samsung Electronics announced that it had carried out the 2024 regular executive personnel reshuffle based on these details.

With Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee of the DX (Mobile & Consumer Electronics) division and President Kyung Kye-hyun of the DS (Semiconductor) division remaining in office, the company will continue to operate under a 'two-CEO' system next year. There had been speculation that the company might move to a 'three-CEO' system through the promotion of No Tae-moon, President and Head of the DX division’s MX (Mobile Experience) business unit, but Samsung chose stable progress over rapid change.
Vice Chairman Han will serve as head of the DX division as well as the Home Appliance Business Division. Until now, Vice Chairman Han also held the position of Head of the Visual Display Business Division, which is responsible for the TV business organization, but this position was succeeded by Vice President Yong Seok-woo.

President Kyung will continue as head of the DS division and concurrently serve as head of SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology). SAIT is an organization that conducts research and development (R&D) on future technologies over 10 to 20-year timeframes.
Samsung Electronics stated, "By maintaining the two-CEO system, we aim to ensure management stability while strengthening core business competitiveness and building a foundation for sustainable growth through the development of unprecedented technologies."

A notable point is the establishment of the Future Business Planning Group. Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun was the key figure who grew Samsung Electronics’ memory semiconductor and battery businesses to a global top level. He served as CEO of Samsung SDI and later as Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Samsung Electronics explained, "To discover new businesses that are not merely extensions of existing ones, we established the Future Business Planning Group as a vice chairman-level organization to lay the groundwork for pioneering new business areas." They added, "Vice Chairman Jeon will lead the discovery of future growth engines that will transform Samsung’s paradigm over the next 10 years, based on his accumulated rich management know-how and forward-looking insight."
