Kim Seok-ki, a member of the People Power Party, was elected as a Supreme Council member on the 23rd. The newly appointed Supreme Council member Kim ran unopposed in this by-election following the voluntary resignation of former Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won.
Kim Do-eup, chairman of the by-election election management committee for the Supreme Council member, announced the results after holding a national committee meeting that day: "Out of 824 members, 576 participated in the vote, with 560 in favor and 16 against, resulting in Kim, the sole candidate, being elected as a Supreme Council member." This national committee meeting was broadcast live through the party's YouTube channel and conducted remotely via ARS voting and other means.

I will do my best to contribute to unity and innovation for the stability of the party."
Supreme Council member Kim represents Gyeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province and is a second-term lawmaker. He also served as secretary-general under the emergency committee led by Chung Jin-seok last year. In his acceptance speech, he said, "I will never forget the overwhelming support you have given me as a Supreme Council member," and added, "I am well aware of my role and responsibilities. I will repay you with results."
This is the second time that an elected Supreme Council member has been chosen since the People Power Party leadership was launched at the party convention in March. Previously, lawmaker Tae Young-ho resigned from the Supreme Council in May due to various controversies, and Kim Ga-ram, who emphasized 'youth and Honam,' was elected as his successor. Former Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won was suspended from party membership for one year due to problematic remarks related to the Gwangju 5.18 and Jeju 4.3 incidents, but the party leadership accepted the Innovation Committee's recommendation for amnesty, and the suspension was lifted on the 2nd. Following the cancellation of his suspension, former Supreme Council member Kim resigned from his position as a gesture of self-reflection.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the People Power Party finalized amendments to the party constitution and regulations through a national committee vote, following prior approval by the Supreme Council. The amendments include provisions to extend the deadline for forming the nomination management committee from a maximum of 120 days before the general election to 90 days, and to allow members of the nomination management committee for constituency and proportional representation to hold concurrent positions. Additionally, a new regulation was established stipulating that if a party branch chairman receives a disciplinary action of suspension or higher, the position will be immediately vacated.
