Seoul City to Remodel Main Building 1st Floor Civil Service Office by May Next Year
Open Civil Service Office Temporarily Relocated to Burim Building
Seoul City announced on the 23rd that starting from the 27th, it will remodel the first floor of the City Hall main building and reorganize the existing layout of the Open Civil Service Office, which had poor accessibility and inefficiency, into an open space where citizens can easily find and comfortably stay.
The Open Civil Service Office receives an average of about 100 visitors daily and handles 218 civil complaints (115 offline, 103 online). It serves as a communication channel for citizens to apply for various complaints, including 133 statutory civil complaints such as registration, changes, and business closure reports, as well as general and grievance complaints regarding various inconveniences.
To prevent any administrative service gaps during the remodeling construction period, Seoul City plans to temporarily relocate the Open Civil Service Office to the 1st and 2nd floors of the Burim Building (39 Namdaemun-ro 9-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul), near City Hall, and operate it there until May next year.
Meanwhile, through the remodeling, a brighter and more comfortable space called the ‘Maeum Shimteo (Soul Lounge)’ will be created on the first floor of the City Hall main building. The ‘Maeum Shimteo’ will be naturally connected to Seoul Plaza, where various programs such as the ‘Reading Square’ take place, and will be reborn as a resting and cultural enjoyment space for citizens.
