Naju City Completes Full Survey of 12,589 Cases of Early Dementia Screening
Naju City in Jeollanam-do has exceeded its target of 12,000 cases for this year’s comprehensive early dementia screening survey.
Naju City (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced that as of November 22, it has completed 12,589 cases of the early dementia screening survey conducted since April for citizens aged 60 and over.

The comprehensive survey was conducted according to the ‘Naju-type Early Dementia Screening Three-Year Plan (2023?2025),’ which aims for systematic management to proactively prevent dementia among local residents.
The screening targets citizens aged 60 and above, and is provided free of charge when visiting the Dementia Safety Center, public health branch offices, or clinics.
For residents who have difficulty moving or visiting, staff from the Public Health Center’s Dementia Safety Center visit village senior centers and target households directly to conduct screenings, receiving positive responses for this attentive administration.
Based on the screening results, the Dementia Safety Center conducts additional tests if necessary and connects individuals to customized services such as coverage for examination fees, treatment management costs, support for care supplies, and issuance of identification tags.
Through this, they identified 648 dementia patients who were in blind spots of care and 130 individuals with mild cognitive impairment requiring intensive management.
To ensure early completion of the three-year plan and smooth screening, the center uses various media including mail, text messages, village announcements, banner postings, SNS, and electronic billboards to promote the screening services.
According to Naju City’s population statistics, as of the end of last month, the population aged 60 and over in the jurisdiction was 38,009, accounting for 32.4% of the total population.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae of Naju said, “Dementia can be suppressed from progressing to a severe state or symptoms can be improved through customized treatment following early detection,” and added, “We will continue to promote the comprehensive early dementia screening survey and do our best to create a dementia-safe leading city without dementia worries.”
