LG Chem appoints Executive Director Lee Jong-gu as Vice President... 17 Executives Promoted
Jong-gu Lee, Executive Director at LG Chem, has been promoted to Vice President.
On the 22nd, LG Chem held a board meeting and conducted executive promotions including one Vice President promotion, four Executive Director promotions, eleven new Senior Managing Directors appointments, and one Senior Research Fellow promotion, totaling 17 executive promotions. This personnel move focused on strengthening global competitiveness, accelerating the advancement of three new growth engines?battery materials, eco-friendly materials, and innovative new drugs?and enhancing overseas business capabilities.
Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Sustainability Strategy Officer (CSSO), Executive Director Jong-gu Lee was promoted to Vice President. Vice President Lee is an R&D expert with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from KAIST.
Since his appointment as Head of the Petrochemical Research Institute in December 2020, he contributed to expanding the sustainable petrochemical product portfolio and securing competitiveness in high value-added business products. In December 2022, as CTO and CSSO, he developed R&D capabilities for future businesses such as bio materials and next-generation battery materials.
Also promoted this time, Executive Director Dong-yeop Han is a production expert in the PVC and VCM fields, recognized for laying the foundation to strengthen competitiveness in sustainable business as Head of the PVC and Plasticizer Business Division since December 2022.
Executive Director Chang-hyun Lee, as Global Customer Development Manager of the Advanced Materials Business Division, achieved results by securing partnerships with global customers, expanding overseas business opportunities in battery materials, and contributing to strengthening future readiness capabilities.
Executive Director Hee-bong Lee, Head of R&D at the Life Sciences Business Division, was recognized for his contribution to strengthening R&D capabilities to enhance the competitiveness of the new drug pipeline and support achieving business goals.
Executive Director Byung-chul Park, as CS General Manager and Yeosu Production General Manager of the Petrochemical Business Division, contributed to strengthening petrochemical customer responsiveness and manufacturing competitiveness, and was also appointed as Chief Safety and Environment Officer (CSEO).
