The Democratic Party Accepts Some Innovation Committee Proposals... "Establishing a Cutoff Beyond Excluding the Bottom 20% of Incumbents from Nomination"
Decision at People Power Party's 3rd Nomination Management Planning Team Meeting
"Issue with Significant Impact... Final Decision by Nomination Committee"
System Nomination and Youth Bonus Points Categorized by Age
On the 22nd, the People Power Party announced that it has established a stricter cutoff system for next year's general election nominations than the 'principle of excluding the bottom 20% of incumbent lawmakers from nominations' proposed by the Innovation Committee. Additionally, youth bonus points during the nomination process will be allocated by dividing candidates into different age groups.
Bae Jun-young, Deputy Head of Strategic Planning for the People Power Party, stated this after the 3rd Nomination Management Planning Team meeting at the National Assembly on the same day.
Deputy Head Bae said, "We have prepared a system that goes beyond the Innovation Committee's proposal of excluding the bottom 20% of incumbent lawmakers from nominations," adding, "The Innovation Committee suggested conducting evaluations of elected officials and completely excluding the bottom 20% from nominations, but the General Election Planning Team has approved a stricter evaluation method for incumbent lawmakers that surpasses the Innovation Committee's proposal."

However, he refrained from disclosing specific details of the system. Deputy Head Bae said, "Since this is a matter with significant impact, the final decision must be finalized by the Nomination Management Committee," and added, "We have raised the standards to ensure a substantial innovation in nominations, confirmed that incumbents are not exempt, and approved this accordingly."
To prevent 'parachute nominations,' a principled system for nomination screening has also been established. Deputy Head Bae explained, "By maximizing quantitative evaluations such as competitiveness assessments, party affairs audits, and morality evaluations, it has become impossible to conduct tailored nomination screenings for specific individuals."
Regarding the recruitment of young talent, he said, "To create a party that represents future generations, we have laid the foundation for younger youth nominations. Instead of uniformly granting bonus points, we will allocate bonus points by dividing youth into different age groups." Previously, the People Power Party Innovation Committee proposed youth quota nominations as part of its third innovation plan.
