Local Community Organizations Step Up to Support Recovery

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has dispatched volunteer workers to the site to assist households affected by the fire incident that occurred on the 20th in Guryong Village, Haepyeong 5-ri, Deukryang-myeon.

About 30 people, including members of the Deukryang-myeon Volunteer Fire Brigade, Hope Dream Council members, and Deukryang-myeon Office staff, participated in the volunteer work and visited the fire site that occurred on October 30 to carry out restoration work.

The affected household in Haepyeong-ri, Deukryang-myeon, was adjacent to the completely burned house, and due to the partial burning of the house, the home appliances and furniture were blackened and unusable.

The volunteers cleaned up on-site waste such as charred home appliances and removed the remnants of household items and clothing melted by the fire.

Homeowner Jo said, “The neighbors helped and showed concern as if it were their own matter, which gave me great strength.”

Jung Yong-rae, captain of the Deukryang-myeon Volunteer Fire Brigade, said, “We engaged in restoration activities to share even a little of the sorrow of our neighbors who lost their homes in an instant fire,” and added, “I am grateful to the volunteers who participated in the difficult work.”

Deukryang-myeon Chief Lee Gwang-jae said, “I thank the volunteers who showed great interest in the difficulties of our neighbors and gathered with one heart and mind at the fire damage site to practice neighborly love,” and added, “We will continue to do our best for cooperative governance where residents lead and administration supports.”
