15-year-old Oh Sumin Expected to Hit 300-yard Drives
Prain Global Sportizen signed Song Min-hyeok and Oh Su-min, who are considered the top male and female golf prospects, on the 20th.
Song Min-hyeok has been a national representative for three consecutive years since 2021 and won 15 amateur titles. He secured the top spot at the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour Qualifying Tournament, which ended on the 17th, emerging as a strong candidate for next year’s Rookie of the Year. This year, he made a strong impression on the professional stage with a runner-up finish at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open and a tie for third place at the SK Telecom Open.
Song Min-hyeok’s role model is K.J. Choi, who has won eight times on the U.S. PGA Tour. He said, “I want to become a player who surprises the world like senior K.J. Choi, who showed the power of Koreans on the dream stage of the PGA Tour,” adding, “My ultimate goal is to be world No. 1. I will never stop striving until the day I become the best in the world.”
Oh Su-min is also a promising player who has shown outstanding results in the junior circuit, including winning the Songam Amateur Golf Championship. In May, she drew attention by hitting drives over 300 yards as an invited player at the KLPGA Tour’s Kyochon 1991 Ladies Open. This season, she tied for 16th at the E1 Charity Open and tied for 14th at the SK Shielders-SK Telecom Championship.
