Returns to Field After 7 Months Since April Masters
‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA) is coming back.
On the 18th (local time), Woods announced through his social media (SNS) that he will participate in the PGA Tour’s ‘special event’ Hero World Challenge (total prize money $3.5 million) held at the end of this month. This will be his first tournament appearance in seven months since undergoing surgery to treat inflammation in the right ankle fibula after finishing the Masters in April.

The Hero World Challenge will be held on the 30th at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas (par 72, 7,449 yards). Hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, 20 of the world’s top-ranked players will compete. Although it is not an official PGA Tour event, it awards world ranking points. Last year’s champion was Viktor Hovland (Norway), ranked 4th in the world, who achieved his second consecutive win.
Woods has been suffering from complications of multiple fractures sustained in a traffic accident in February 2021. He was often seen limping painfully during tournaments. Since the surgery, he has not participated in any tournaments.
