HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Share Warmth with Kimchi for 33rd Year
2,655 Basic Livelihood Security Households and 44 Welfare Facilities Delivered
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard are helping neighbors in need in Ulsan Dong-gu get through the winter by sharing kimchi for kimjang again this year.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation announced on the 17th that they held the ‘2023 Love Kimjang Sharing Event’ at Hyundai Department Store Hyundai Square in Dong-gu, Ulsan.
The event was attended by Lee Sang-gyun, President of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries; Kim Hyung-kwan, President of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard; Kim Jong-hoon, Mayor of Dong-gu; Kwon Myung-ho, Member of the National Assembly; Lee Jung-seok, Director of Dong-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center; as well as HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ in-house volunteer groups such as the Job Circle Union.
The kimchi prepared by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard this day amounted to 3,400 containers (a total of 17,000 kg) and was evenly distributed to 2,655 basic livelihood security households in Ulsan Dong-gu and 44 social welfare facilities.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries held the nation’s first kimjang event in 1991 and has been making kimchi with volunteers every year at the end of the year to send to neighbors in need. Since 2020, to prevent COVID-19 and share kimchi with more neighbors, they have been purchasing finished kimchi products to support the cause.
An official from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said, “We prepared a generous amount of kimchi for local neighbors who feel burdened by the recent rise in ingredient costs such as napa cabbage,” adding, “We hope this will help our neighbors get through the cold winter.”
