Daegu Shinsegae Department Store Employees Make Kimchi for 200 Low-Income Households
Employees of Daegu Shinsegae Department Store held a kimchi-making event and delivered kimchi to 200 low-income households.
The kimchi-making event held on the 15th at Jeil Christian Comprehensive Social Welfare Center was attended by Kim Tae-yeon, Deputy Mayor of Dong-gu, Daegu, Bong Myeong-hoon, Director of Jeil Christian Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Choi Mun-yeol, CEO of Daegu Shinsegae Department Store, employees, and volunteers.
On that day, Daegu Shinsegae distributed 10 kg of kimchi each to 200 low-income households in the Dong-gu area. Daegu Shinsegae resumed the kimchi-making event, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, and department store employees participated directly in making kimchi.
Choi Mun-yeol, CEO of Daegu Shinsegae, said, “I am pleased to make kimchi, a very popular side dish, myself and send it to those in need,” adding, “Daegu Shinsegae, as a local corporation, will continue steady activities for the local community,” conveying the significance of the event.

In addition to kimchi, Daegu Shinsegae also provided heating oil support to elderly people living alone in Sincheon-dong to help marginalized groups prepare for winter.
