According to local Texas broadcaster WFAA and others on the 16th (local time), a collision occurred between a light aircraft and a regular passenger car at McKinney Aero Country Airport in Texas around 12:30 PM on the 11th. The accident happened as the aircraft veered off the runway during an emergency landing. The Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including whether there was a mechanical failure of the aircraft.
Videos taken by witnesses show that the light aircraft failed to reduce speed after landing and broke through the airport fence, leaving the runway. The aircraft then crossed onto the road, and the Sonata driving on the road was unable to avoid the suddenly appearing aircraft and collided with it.
The uncontrolled and rampaging light aircraft only stopped after crashing into the Sonata. Although smoke rose from the collision, there was no secondary accident such as an explosion.
