Dong-A University Professor Kang Do-young Selected for 'Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project'
Professor Kang Do-young, Dean of the College of Medicine at Dong-A University, has been selected for the '2023 Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS)' regional innovation autonomous task.
With this project selection, Professor Kang will receive 200 million KRW in research funding to carry out the task of 'Development of Regional Specialized Radiological Medical Bio Technology and Network Construction.'
This project, led by Professor Kang, will be conducted through joint research with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, local medical institutions, and companies, and will also be linked to the Radioisotope Utilization Research Center in the Radiation Medical Science Industrial Complex in Gijang-gun, Busan, which is scheduled to open next year.
Dong-A University stated that this project is expected to contribute to the development of new radioactive compound technologies and the establishment of a regional joint research network.
Professor Kang Do-young said, “Through this project, we will strive to revitalize regional new drug development technologies and foster specialized personnel in the industry-government-academia sectors.”

Professor Kang was appointed as the 22nd Dean of the College of Medicine at Dong-A University in August last year and also serves as the director of the Bio-Health Convergence Research Institute. His specialties include neuro-nuclear medicine, molecular imaging nuclear medicine, and radioisotope therapy, and he has been involved in numerous industry-academia research projects.
