Local Autonomy Awards with 1,000 Residents as Tournament Judges
Civilians, Public Officials, Organizations, and Local Governments All Eligible to Apply
Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do participated in the 2023 Local Autonomy Awards titled ‘Surviving through Autonomy ? Surviving through Autonomous Life,’ a grand journey to nurture local resources and discover local talents.
According to the county on the 16th, the themes for this award competition are △ Surviving through Autonomy (local government policies, regional brand cases) and △ Surviving through Autonomous Life (all cases where individuals and small groups such as residents and public officials contributed to the local community). Citizens, public officials, organizations, and local governments can all participate.
The submitted works will be judged by experts and a panel of 1,000 residents. Unusually, the judging will be conducted in a tournament format, designed to increase interest in local resources and local talents from the evaluation process itself.
The finalists will have their final awards decided through ‘on-site presentations ? on-site judging’ on the day of the awards ceremony. The ceremony will be live-streamed on YouTube, and the winning works will be rebroadcast through various media to promote the spread of local autonomy in the future.
Now in its fourth year, this Local Autonomy Awards is co-hosted by the Local Autonomy Decentralization Local Government Council, Local Autonomy Decentralization University, Gwangmyeong City, and other organizations. The previous three awards were jointly promoted by the Local Autonomy Decentralization Local Government Council, Local Autonomy Decentralization University, Local Autonomy Decentralization Committee, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Balanced Development Committee, and 16 regional MBC stations.

The ‘4th Local Autonomy Awards’ ceremony will be held on the 19th of next month, and the submission period is until the 24th (the first round of document submissions is until November 17). For more details, please refer to the announcements on the Local Autonomy Decentralization University website.
