Busan Seobu Office of Education Enhances Teachers' Understanding of Busan's Modern and Contemporary History
The Western Education Support Office of Busan City will conduct a teacher capacity-building training titled "Modern and Contemporary History of the Maritime City Busan" twice, on the 17th and 24th, at the Busan Traditional Culture Experience Center.
This training aims to contribute to the establishment of a correct historical consciousness and enhance insight through understanding Busan's modern and contemporary history, as well as to expand the school curriculum linked with the local community.
The training will feature a lecture by Professor Emeritus Park Hwajin of the Department of History at Pukyong National University, on the theme "History and Culture of the Maritime City Busan." Professor Park will share stories of Busan from the modern era to the present day with the participants.
Participants will explore the regional characteristics and value of Busan in modern and contemporary history, focusing on "Busan, Changes After the Modern Era (Transformation from a Fishing Village to a Large Maritime City)" during the training on the 17th, and "Establishment and Changes of the Modern Maritime City Busan" during the training on the 24th.

Lee Jaehan, Director of the Western Education Support Office, stated, "This training will help teachers develop a correct understanding of the local modern and contemporary history, serving as an opportunity for substantial education on Busan's local history." He added, "We will do our best to activate the formation of school curricula linked with the local community and the operation of experience-centered clubs."
