Pyeongtaek City Conducts Comprehensive Crackdown on Illegal Circulation of Local Currency
Crackdown on Fraudulent Receipt and Illegal Currency Exchange Until the 27th
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on the illegal distribution of the local currency 'Pyeongtaek Sarang Gift Certificate' until the 27th.
The city, in collaboration with the operating agency, has formed a joint inspection team. After analyzing data from the abnormal transaction detection system and resident reports in advance, the team plans to visit and inspect targeted affiliated stores.
The main targets of the crackdown are ▲illegal receipt of gift certificates such as proxy purchases ▲illegal currency exchange ▲businesses with high-value or repeated payments ▲operation of businesses restricted from registering as affiliated stores ▲refusal of payment and unfavorable treatment compared to cash.
If illegal distribution activities are detected, minor cases will be guided on-site, but serious violations will result in administrative actions such as cancellation of affiliated store registration and fines of up to 20 million KRW. In cases suspected of severe illegal distribution, the city plans to request investigations from law enforcement agencies.
