KOSPI Closes at 2433.25 with Institutional 'Buy'... Battery Stocks Rally
KOSDAQ Closes Up 2.55%
On the 14th, the KOSPI closed sharply higher, reaching the 2433 level thanks to strong buying by institutional investors. The KOSDAQ also rose more than 2%, approaching just below the 800 mark.
The KOSPI closed at 2433.25, up 1.23% (29.49 points) from the previous day. It opened at 2424.93, up 0.88% (21.17 points) from the previous day, and extended its gains to reach the 2430 level.
Institutions led the index. In the morning, both foreigners and institutions showed 'dual buying' momentum, but in the afternoon, institutions alone net purchased 625.5 billion KRW. Individuals and foreigners net sold 542.5 billion KRW and 90.8 billion KRW, respectively. In the futures market, foreigners and individuals bought 86.5 billion KRW and 37.3 billion KRW, respectively, while institutions sold 111.3 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, the battery sector showed notable strength. LG Energy Solution rose 5.17%, Samsung SDI 4.32%, and POSCO Holdings 4.31%, ranking high in gains. NAVER increased 3.12%, and LG Chem rose 2.54%, also standing out. On the other hand, SK Hynix was the only decliner at -1.37%, and Samsung Biologics closed flat.
The KOSDAQ closed at 794.19, up 2.55% (19.77 points) from the previous day. It opened at 779.47, up 0.65% (5.05 points) from the previous day, and extended its gains. Foreigners alone net purchased 281.2 billion KRW, lifting the index. In the morning, foreigners and institutions both showed buying momentum, but in the afternoon, institutions turned to selling. Ultimately, individuals and institutions net sold 272.5 billion KRW and 10.6 billion KRW, respectively.

Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, all closed higher. Similar to the KOSPI, the battery sector showed strength. Ecopro BM rose 9.69%, Alteogen 6.50%, L&F 6.07%, and Ecopro 5.96%, ranking among the top gainers.
