Samsung Electronics announced on the 14th that it will hold the 'Samsung Developer Conference Korea 2023 (SDC23 Korea)' at the Samsung Electronics Seocho Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 14th and 15th. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event.
The event will provide software developers with opportunities to share the latest technologies and information and collaborate. Various sessions are prepared, including artificial intelligence (AI), SmartThings, healthcare, Galaxy products and services, and automotive electronics (electric and electronic equipment for vehicles). Any software developer can attend. Participation is also available online.
Jeon Kyung-hoon, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Samsung Electronics DX (Mobile & Consumer Electronics) Division and Head of Samsung Research, said, "The role and competitiveness of software will become increasingly important in realizing digital innovation, the keyword of future technology," adding, "We will communicate closely with developers and continuously exchange technologies to create a better future."
He continued, "The innovation pursued by Samsung Electronics always starts with customer experience, and the best customer experience is to anticipate and meet user demands," and said, "Samsung Electronics is dedicated to researching advanced technologies that create new lifestyles such as AI and data intelligence."
At the event, Samsung Electronics introduced the generative AI model 'Samsung Gauss,' first unveiled at the 'Samsung AI Forum' on the 8th. The presentation covered three models: language, code, and image. The Samsung Gauss language model supports Korean as well as English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese models. The image model was trained on safe data that does not infringe on licenses or personal information. It is designed to operate on-device, which has the advantage of preventing users' information from being leaked externally.
The keynote included an introduction to Samsung Gauss and presentations on Samsung's advanced research technologies and customer experience improvements, such as knowledge graph-based data intelligence. Under the theme of 'Samsung’s Platform and Open Collaboration,' the event shared enhancements to smart home experiences based on the SmartThings open platform. Additionally, 15 sessions were prepared, including solutions to improve SmartThings connectivity experiences.
On the second day, 20 sessions will be held, including smart home healthcare services utilizing camera-based remote photoplethysmography technology.
