Hong Jun-pyo "Abandon Your First Wife"... Shin Pyeong "Is Your Private Life Cleaner Than Mine?"
Hong Jun-pyo and Shin Pyeong Engage in SNS War Ahead of General Election
Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, launched a social media attack, saying, "A person who doesn't even know the basics of politics presumes to be the president's mentor and gives advice based on vain delusions." The remarks appear to be aimed at lawyer Shin Pyeong, who is called "President Yoon Seok-yeol's mentor," but Shin refuted the claims, saying, "Hong's words contain false information."
On the 13th, Shin posted a link to an article related to Hong's remarks on his SNS, stating, "It seems Mayor Hong is very angry. Still, my head is spinning," and rebutted Hong's SNS post.
Earlier, Mayor Hong said on SNS, "I've never seen someone who abandoned their first wife succeed. It's disgusting that a person who doesn't even know the basics of politics presumes to be the president's mentor and gives advice based on vain delusions, but the tabloid media that blindly reports such articles is also pathetic." Although Hong did not specify who he was targeting, considering the phrases "presumed to be the president's mentor" and "abandoned their first wife," it seems he was referring to lawyer Shin, who has a history of remarriage.
However, Shin denied ever claiming to be "President Yoon's mentor." He said, "Mayor Hong always assumes that I have 'presumed to be the president's mentor,' not just this time. But I have always denied whenever anyone called me 'President Yoon Seok-yeol's mentor.' This is a fact that can be immediately verified by records of broadcast interviews, and I have consistently denied it even in private settings."
He added, "The important issue here is that Mayor Hong must have known that I frequently denied this fact. It doesn't make sense to say he didn't know. Knowing this statement is false, he still publicly claimed that I falsely impersonated such a qualification. You know well the legal implications of Mayor Hong's actions."
Regarding Hong's comment, "I've never seen someone who abandoned their first wife succeed," Shin also retorted, calling it "a low-level remark." He said, "Mayor Hong even attacked my private life."
He asked Mayor Hong, "Let me ask you one thing. Is Mayor Hong really cleaner than me in terms of private life?" He continued, "If so, then I should thank Mayor Hong, the head of Daegu City, the ancestral home of my family (seogeoji, the region where a particular family name has lived for generations). But if not, or if you are unsure, I hope you refrain from making such low-level remarks in the future."
The reason Mayor Hong targeted lawyer Shin seems to be due to an analysis article Shin wrote that morning. In his SNS post that morning, Shin mentioned Mayor Hong as one of the "three key players in the faction opposing Yoon Seok-yeol," who are attempting to overthrow the Yoon administration under the banner of "anti-Yoon Seok-yeol," and depicted him as having the intention to support former representative Lee Jun-seok's new party, which likely caused Mayor Hong to feel displeased.

Mayor Hong recently also vocally criticized a similar article in the Chosun Ilbo. On the 9th, he said on SNS, "This is a typical Chosun Ilbo prediction article. If the 'Lee Jun-seok new party' appears, would I support it? What a typical Chosun Ilbo idea," adding, "Stop publishing such baseless slanderous articles written by unknown nobodies who were interviewed."
