On the 13th, the Tourism Organization signed a business agreement for the "Activation of Incheon International Hub Linked Tourism" with seven organizations from the Incheon area, including airports, ports, local governments, and the tourism industry, at the Grand Hyatt Incheon Hotel.
About 80 officials from each organization attended the signing ceremony, including Kim Jang-sil, President of the Korea Tourism Organization; Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation; Yoo Jung-bok, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City; Kim Sang-gi, Vice President of Operations at Incheon Port Authority; Baek Hyun, President of Incheon Tourism Organization; Si Chen, CEO of Inspire Integrated Resort; Choi Jong-hwan, CEO of Paradise Segasami; and Pacey David Charles, Co-CEO of KAL Hotel Network.
The participating organizations plan to form a working-level consultative body to cooperate so that foreign tourists using Incheon International Airport can actually enjoy tourism in the Incheon area. Specific cooperation will be carried out in five areas: ▲product development ▲transportation linkage ▲strategic exchange ▲joint marketing ▲promotion, and related projects will be promoted.
Among foreigners who entered Korea this year, the proportion using Incheon Airport reached 70-80%. However, noting that Incheon regional tourism has not been sufficiently linked, this business agreement was promoted.
According to the Tourism Organization, among domestic cities, the proportion of tourists visiting Incheon as a destination was 33%, which is lower compared to other cities such as Seoul at 80% and Busan at 61%.
The Tourism Organization will develop themed transfer tourism products that can highlight Incheon's unique attractions such as its history as an open port, islands, and international city. They also plan to activate a new concept of transfer itinerary (Fly&Cruise) program linking air and marine tourism.
