Busan City will hold the ‘5th Busan Metropolitan City Children’s Day Commemoration Event’ on the 15th at 4 p.m. at the Busan City Hall Deullak Deullak.
‘Busan City Children’s Day’ was designated as the third Wednesday of November every year for the first time in the nation after the city received UNICEF Korea Committee’s Child-Friendly City certification in 2019, the first among metropolitan cities, to promote a culture of respecting children’s rights and to provide a platform for children’s participation.
The event is hosted by Busan City and organized by Gaonnuri and Kkumdeulim Kids.
The ceremony will proceed in the following order: ▲Reading of the Children’s Rights Charter ▲Receipt of the resolution from the Republic of Korea Children’s Assembly Busan Regional Conference ▲Awards for exemplary children and contributors to the creation of a child-friendly city ▲Dialogue with the Deputy Mayor of Busan ▲Sharing of achievements from children’s participation organizations and the Mamkkeotnolja project.
In particular, this year, children participating in the event will have the opportunity to express their opinions to the Deputy Mayor and ask questions they have been curious about.
There will also be a session to share the 2023 activities of children’s participation organizations such as the Children’s Rights Protection Group and the Children and Youth Participation Budget Activity Group, as well as the achievements of the Mamkkeotnolja project.
Additionally, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the day of the event, free experience booths open to all children will be operated in the first-floor lobby of City Hall. Various side events such as a four-shot photo booth and a photo exhibition of children’s participation activities will be available.
The side events can be freely used by children who visit during operating hours without prior reservation, and to ensure smooth operation of the experience activities and the safety of children, Busan City Volunteer Center plans to deploy 34 volunteers.
