Fire at Yangsan Waste Disposal Facility Extinguished After 9 Hours... Property Damage Estimated at Over 395.96 Million Won
A fire at a waste collection and processing company in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, was extinguished after about 9 hours.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire broke out at a resource recycling facility in Eogok-dong, Yangsan-si, around 1:41 p.m. on the 9th.
At the scene, 101 personnel including firefighters dispatched following reports from nearby residents, wildfire suppression teams, police, and Korea Electric Power Corporation employees, along with 3 helicopters and 33 pieces of equipment such as heavy machinery, were deployed.
By 3:47 p.m. that day, the main fire was brought under control, but firefighting efforts faced difficulties due to accumulated waste at the site, and the fire was fully extinguished around 10:50 p.m.
The fire destroyed two buildings and 85 tons of waste, causing property damage estimated by the fire station at approximately 395,965,000 KRW, but no casualties were reported.
