Uljin-gun Hosts 'Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change Response Strategy Seminar in Forestry and Timber Industry'

On the 8th, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the "Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change Response Strategy Seminar in the Forest and Forestry Sector" at the Korea Press Center press conference room in Seoul, co-hosted by National Assembly member Park Hyung-su, Gyeongbuk Province, and Environmental Daily.
This seminar was held to recognize the necessity of responding to climate change and to find response strategies in the forest and forestry sector, as Uljin-gun has experienced the pain of large-scale forest fires.

Starting with congratulatory remarks from Son Byung-bok, Uljin-gun governor, the seminar featured a keynote lecture titled "The Decade of Action Toward Carbon Neutrality" by Kim Hyo-eun, Climate Change Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by presentations from Uljin-gun and the Korea Forest Service. Afterwards, a panel discussion was held with Kim Ik-su, editor-in-chief of Environmental Daily, as the chair, and experts including Jeong Hwi-cheol, head of the KEI National Climate Crisis Adaptation Center, Kim Young-hwan, researcher at the National Institute of Forest Science, Park Jeong-hee, president of the Korea Forest Managers Association, and Professor Kim Ki-eun.
Governor Son Byung-bok stated, "Through this seminar, I emphasize the need for response in the forest and forestry sector to climate change," adding, "We will establish response strategies that the national and local governments should pursue for sustainable forest creation and management."
