Gwangju Seo-gu 'Shared Parking Activation Project' Selected as Best Collaboration Case

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) has been selected for the ‘Shared Parking Activation Project’ as the best collaboration case of 2023.

To establish a culture of collaboration as a daily practice, Seo-gu held the ‘Collaboration Excellence Case Competition,’ discovering a total of 21 collaboration cases. After document screening and nationwide online voting, seven excellent cases were announced on the 9th.

The top prize went to the Transportation Guidance Division’s ‘Shared Parking Activation’ project.

Amid severe parking difficulties causing increased inconvenience to residents, the Transportation Guidance Division took the lead in building a collaborative system with the Resident Autonomy Division, Housing Division, Parks and Greenery Division, Education and Library Division, and Planning Office to solve parking issues. They achieved results by sharing parking lots of schools, religious facilities, and apartment complexes with the local community.

Additionally, as excellent cases, the Health Promotion Division led the ‘Barefoot Walking Culture Expansion and Infrastructure Establishment’ project with participation from the Planning Office, Public Relations Office, Parks and Greenery Division, and 18 neighborhoods. The Education and Library Division, together with the Planning Office, Welfare Policy Division, and Resident Autonomy Division, promoted the ‘World’s Largest University, Seo-gu (Sekunda Operation).’

Along with these, the Culture and Arts Division’s ‘Creation of Walkable Communication Theme Streets’ and ‘Gwangju Seochang Eoksae Festival,’ the Accounting Information Division’s ‘Construction of Nongsong 2-dong Public Complex Building,’ and the Parks and Greenery Division’s ‘Our Neighborhood Healing Park Created Together’ were also selected as excellent collaboration cases.

Heo Miok, head of the Seo-gu Planning Office, said, “As the policy environment becomes more complex, collaboration is becoming a necessity rather than a choice. We will strive to establish a collaborative culture within the organization through the dissemination of excellent cases to realize a happier life for residents.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu is establishing a systematic monitoring and feedback system for each collaborative task to settle the collaboration culture and is promoting various support programs such as collaboration workshops, capacity-building training, and expert consultations.
