On the 9th, the Supreme Court Division 1 (Presiding Justice No Tae-ak) confirmed the lower court ruling that Oxy Reckitt Benckiser (Oxy), a manufacturer and seller of humidifier disinfectants, had design and labeling defects in its humidifier disinfectant, and that the victims suffered lung damage due to those defects. The court ordered Oxy and its supplier Hanbit Chemical to jointly pay 5 million won in consolation damages.
