Prosecutors Summon SPC Group Executive for Investigation Over 'Union Withdrawal Coercion'
The prosecution investigating allegations of 'forced union withdrawal' by SPC Group is summoning and questioning a senior group official.
According to the legal community on the 8th, the Public Investigation Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Im Sambin), which is conducting an investigation related to unfair labor practices at PB Partners, a subsidiary of SPC Group, summoned Baek, a former executive director of SPC Group, as a witness from the morning.
The prosecution is investigating allegations that PB Partners engaged in unfair labor practices, such as coercing members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' Hwaseom Food Union Paris Baguette branch to withdraw from the union or imposing disadvantages in personnel matters. PB Partners is an affiliate of SPC Group.
Earlier, on the 30th of last month, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure at SPC Group headquarters and Chairman Heo Young-in's office. Mr. Baek was among the individuals included in the investigation during the search and seizure, and this is his first appearance before the prosecution. He is currently in charge of sales management at an affiliate.
