Ordinance Enacted and Promulgated on the 7th for Dietary Meal Support to Manage the Health of Gwangjin-gu Residents... Establishing a Comprehensive Safety Net to Prevent Anyone from Skipping Meals Due to Social and Economic Hardships
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) enacted and promulgated an ordinance on the 7th, becoming the first among Seoul's 25 autonomous districts to support dietary and meal services for residents' health management.
The ordinance integrates previously separate meal support laws by target groups, aiming to ensure that no one skips meals due to social or economic difficulties, and sets forth necessary provisions for meal support.
Specifically, the ordinance includes details on support targets, support projects, and support methods.
Priority support targets are residents at risk of meal deprivation, such as infants, children, adolescents, youth, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, as defined by related laws. The district also specifies detailed support contents considering the characteristics of the recipients and household conditions.
Additionally, it includes support for efficient operation of meal centers, dietary education tailored to life stages, and counseling support for disease prevention and management.
Going forward, the district plans to promote systematic meal support covering the entire life cycle of residents in accordance with this ordinance.
